1stMILE Rewards and the 1stMILE App

What is the 1stMILE App?

The 1stMILE app keeps track of your cars, tells you what's coming up, and connects you to shops, coverage, and rewards. It's your trusty sidekick ready to handle all your vehicle's needs, saving you time and money along the way.

How do I add my vehicle?
  1. Click the car icon on the bottom ribbon of the app to access your Garage.
  2. Towards the top right, there will be a car icon with a “+”. Click that.
  3. From there, you can scan a barcode or manually enter your VIN.
  4. Press Search.
  5. Press Next if your Vehicle Results are correct.
  6. Set the current Odometer and how many miles you drive the vehicle on average for maintenance and service reminders.
  7. Click Add.

You're done. Congrats! You can add as many vehicles as you want to track in the app.

Where do I find my vehicle's VIN?

Your VIN is a unique 17-character code (made of numbers and letters) that can often be found on the lower-left corner of the dashboard, in front of the steering wheel. Your VIN might also appear at the front of the engine block, front of the car frame, rear wheel well, inside the driver-side doorjamb, the driver-side doorpost, or underneath the spare tire.

You can likely access your insurance provider's website/app on your phone, view your auto policy, and copy the VIN from there and paste it into the 1stMILE app.

What if I change my phone or phone number?

If you've changed phones, you can simply log into the app on your new phone and your 1stMILE app will still have all your Rewards points and maintenance information saved.

If your phone number has changed, you will need to set up your account again, just go through the same steps as originally within the app. For any existing rewards points, you can still login with your old number at the shop to redeem any remaining points.

Is the app available for both iPhone and Android?

Why isn't my favorite shop listed in the app?

Many shops have a pending period before new points become available for use (ex: points may be pending 24 hours or more before they can be redeemed) and/or a redemption minimum (ex: you may need 100 points or more before they can be redeemed). You can view program settings in the 1stMILE app.

Splitit (Buy Now, Pay Later) Installment Plans

Why am I seeing two transactions after creating my Retail installment plan?

Immediately after checkout, you will see two transactions on your credit card:

1. First Installment Payment

  • This is a charge for your first installment.
  • It recurs automatically based on the agreed upon schedule (usually monthly).
  • Cannot be changed: The date or amount of this payment is fixed.

2. Authorization Hold

  • This is not a charge and will not appear on your credit card bill.
  • It guarantees your purchase to the Merchant and temporarily holds funds on your card.

Key details about the authorization

  • The hold reduces your available credit until released.
  • In most cases, the hold drops after a few business days, but some banks may hold funds for up to 30 days (or even the full length of your plan). Splitit does not control how long a bank keeps the hold.
  • For some plans, the authorization is periodically re-authorized every 18–21 days, or every 180 days. The re-authorization amount reflects the current remaining balance of your plan, which decreases as you make payments.
  • The authorization is a required part of paying in installments, as it protects your purchase and allows Splitit to charge future installments automatically.

You can find details about your re-authorization schedule (if any) in the Plan Creation email from Splitit and by looking in the Splitit Shopper Portal.

Payment vs Authorization — What's the difference?

When using Splitit, you will see both types of transactions after creating your installment plan.

Payment (Charge)

  • Money is charged to your card
  • Posts to your account
  • This is your scheduled installment payment

Authorization (Pending Hold)

  • No money is taken
  • Temporarily reduces your available credit (~7–30 days)
  • Secures the remaining balance of your plan
